In all corners of NYC, little slices of tangible life hide like gems in the waning summer. Removing color doesn't negate the vibrancy of this particular slice of life. -Patty
The goal of the project was to paint using light. All of us somehow used string lights to create images, capturing them in motion. My own goal was to make a wave of lights: holding the string lights by one end, I intended to whip them continuously to create an oceanic wave image. However, the results did not reflect my idea. I then became inspired by my crew members holding the string lights like jump-rope; I instructed them to swing it around behind my subject. The result created the 'waveform' I envisioned. Resembling an audio wave emerging from my subject's hands, string lights dance behind our "Music Magician." -Marcel
My photo is an example of fun and experimentation with lights. My inspiration was a shower of colored stars. This has helped me play more and discover more things that can be done with lights. -David
This photo was part of a series of work meant to explore the duality present within myself and the world around. I was considering the dichotomy between my desire for introspection & solitude vs. my need to voice outrage at injustices in the world. The tattoo is itself is black & white, the dragon represent heaven whereas the tiger represents earth. I shot this in my own living space and decided to make the photo look somber by shooting black & white. -Amir
For my final photography project, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone since I’m used to capturing street photography so often. However, in this final, I desire to focus on portraits of my coworkers. I work for a tattoo shop and I thought it would be interesting to capture the unique beauty of my coworkers. In this photo, I showcase the side profile of Byron due to him having a face tattoo on the side of his face. I used the color orange to match his vibe during this time. He was very excited to be part of my photography project. -Kaila Cruz
I wanted to bring focus on my friend's eyes, rather than the whole face, to create a more dramatic effect. I think her intense, captivating gaze comes in perfect harmony with the flowers surrounding her. -Natali
